Bike 10K OM/Rtown Standard Route

@15:37, 50°/9 mph wind/thin clouds/: 3rd fastest speed for 5-10M speed; Power PR for route

Supposed to be easy ride allowing going down to first gear; however, I went right right through trial limiting down to fourth. One hill dropped below 60 rpm, and stepped down to 3rd gear limit.

Trying out winter gear:

  • Head: CB bike cap and purple head band:
    • Lower cheeks and jaws a little bit biting, but not uncomfortable. Probably can tolerate indefinitely and for a little cooler temperature.
  • Upper Body: Dark teal BRF ½ Marathon shirt, charcoal Celtic Solstice shirt, CB jacket.
    • Very warm, maybe a bit too much, but not uncomfortable.
  • Hands: Bike gloves, Castelli gloves.
    • Very comfortably warm.
  • Lower Body: Black light weight sweat pants
    • On the cool side, but comfortable.
  • Feet: Bike shoes, Kinetic socks, gold toe athletic socks.
    • On the cool side, but comfortable.
Looked at a few articles about winter clothing. I think I'm good with what I have, but evaluate at each ride:
  • Head: Use purple head band, balaclava and see how that goes, and maybe also bike cap. I can see maybe needing more at lowest temperatures.
  • Upper Body: CB jacket, warm running shirt and light running shirt. Layers with different weight shirts can be added and combined.
  • Lower Body: Try black sweats and leg warmers. I can see maybe needing to add more getting into the thirties.
  • Feet: See how covers coming will work along with using athletic socks in addition to Kinetic socks.
